Why test and clean injectors off-vehicle vs. in-tank or on-vehicle cleaners?
Testing Injectors off of the vehicle allows the injector spray patterns to be analyzed and the flow rate to be precisely measured side by side for comparison. It also allows leak testing the injectors and monitor for sticking pintles. Lastly, it reduces the risks associated with on vehicle cleaners such as:
- Debris or contaminants can be knocked loose in the fuel system clogging the injector screens
- Harsh in-tank cleaners can damage the internal seals and coil windings of injectors
- Fuel system cleaners may damage oxygen sensors and catalytic converters.
